Kalliope Blanc 2023

Kalliope Blanc is the flagship white wine of Domaine de Cambis — a tribute to Martin's Cretan great-grandmother, Kalliope, and her infectious zest for life. Born in the 2014 vintage, this white wine has since revealed each year the exceptional potential of organic white wines on the schist terroirs of Berlou.

The result of several years of patient planting of white grapevines on the best plots of the estate, Kalliope Blanc expresses a minerality directly linked to the brown schists of the AOP Saint-Chinian Berlou — a unique aromatic signature among the white wines of Languedoc.

Terroir & Grape Varieties

A blend of Grenache Blanc (40%), Roussanne (30%), and Vermentino (30%), grown using certified organic farming on the schists of the AOP Saint-Chinian Berlou appellation (Hérault). The altitude and cool nights of this mountain terroir (300m) preserve the aromatic finesse and natural acidity of the grapes — a rare environment for Languedoc white wines, where the brown schists of Berlou express their characteristic minerality.

Aromatic Profile

A pale gold color with silver reflections. The attack is fresh and mineral — one immediately perceives the schist of Berlou. The mid-palate reveals a beautiful amplitude with aromas of white flowers, candied citrus, and vine peach. The finish is long, saline, with a tension that invites another sip — the signature of great AOP Saint-Chinian white wines from schist terroir.

Serve chilled between 10 and 12°C to reveal the full aromatic complexity of this organic white from Saint-Chinian Berlou.

Aging potential

Can be aged 4 to 7 years to develop beautiful complexity — one of the rare Languedoc white wines suitable for aging made from Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, and Vermentino.
