AOP Saint-Chinian Berlou
Saint-Chinian Berlou, the communal appellation
In 2005, the Saint-Chinian PDO saw the birth of two communal designations recognizing an exceptional terroir: Roquebrun and Berlou. These appellations designate wines exclusively from the schist hillsides of these two villages, with stricter specifications regarding grape varieties, yields, and aging period.
Berlou requires a predominance of Mourvèdre and Syrah, on Ordovician schist soils. The result: powerful wines, with a dark color, and characteristic smoky and roasted aromas of the terroir, even without requiring barrel aging.
Carnet de Voyage, our grand cuvée in Saint-Chinian Berlou PDO, is aged in oak barrels. Just 1,200 bottles produced per vintage—a rare and precious expression of our terroir. Certified Organic Farming.
