Los Compaïres 2024
Los Compaïres ("les compères", the companions, in Occitan) is far more than a bottle of wine — it is a story of friendship born on the schist terroirs of Berlou, in the Hérault. Born of the meeting between Martin Perolari (winegrower at the Domaine de Cambis) and Fabien Lainé (a bon vivant wearing many hats), this cuvée between friends exists only as a limited series of 300 bottles.
The project began simply: an old plot of Cinsault soon to be a hundred years old on a schist hillside at 400 metres altitude in Berlou (Hérault), two friends who share the same passion for beautiful, no-fuss wines, and the talented artist-winegrower Audrey Bakx to create a label in their image. The result: a fine bottle that matches their vision exactly — beautiful, good and fun. An organic Languedoc wine that is lived as much as it is drunk.
Terroir & Grape Variety
100% hundred-year-old Cinsault grown under certified Agriculture Biologique (certified organic farming) on a schist hillside at 400 m altitude in Berlou, in the AOP Saint-Chinian Berlou appellation. The old vines (soon 100 years old) produce very small quantities of grapes of exceptional concentration and finesse — the signature of the great schist terroirs of the Languedoc. Vines that have lived through wars and wine crises to give us today one of the most singular red wines of Berlou.
Aromatic Profile
A light, generous red on fresh red fruits (cherry, raspberry), flowers and a light peppery note. The palate is lively and crunchy, with fine, silky tannins that reflect the age of the vines on Berlou schist. A fresh, long finish — the wine of big gatherings, to be shared without moderation (within reason).
