Rock de Carignane

Rock de Carignane

Rock de Carignane is, in many ways, the purest expression of our terroir.

Carignan, this regional grape variety that has been so often criticized over the past thirty years, has undergone significant uprooting campaigns, and very little of it remains today.
It’s true that it’s a challenging grape, as it’s susceptible to diseases and, if not grown in ideal conditions, can produce wines with harsh, green tannins.
In our case, our Carignan vines are over 80 years old, with the oldest one just reaching 120!
The terroir of Berlou makes the vines struggle, which suits these old vines well, as they produce small quantities of excellent grapes.
The nose of Rock is intense, with notes of flintstone followed by garrigue flowers.
On the palate, the attack is silky, and the tannins are well-integrated. You’ll find aromas of red fruits, fig, and hints of mild spices.
Slightly chilled, it pairs beautifully with rare meats, duck breast with figs, or a thyme-crusted rack of lamb.
